The Hard Drive Project

By Derek Fugate and John Connelly

Personal computer hard drives vary in many sizes, and types, but share the same components. The hard drive is the internal physical disk that stores the data. To better understand how a hard drive functions, this web site describes each component and how it works in conjunction with the other drive components. The significant components described in this web site are as follows:

Even though there are many different types of personal computer hard drives, a basic understanding of the major components and how they function is very beneficial. This web page shows how each component of a drive is complex and necessary for the drive’s function as a whole. As technology increases, drive manufacturers are continually changing and improving hard drive design. To stay current, one must continue to learn about new advances and technology improvements in hard drive design.
